Karen Tweedle is an energy healing practitioner specializing in Reiki, Axiatonal Alignment, The
Energy Healing Technique, and animal-centered healing. Her focus is on supporting both people and their pets in calming the nervous system, restoring balance, and reconnecting with themselves.
Her work is rooted in relaxation, replenishment, and self-love, creating space to
release overwhelm and return to a sense of inner harmony.
Karen’s professional path began with a deep passion for animal health, leading her into
veterinary medicine, where she has worked as a veterinary technician for over 15 years. Her
focus has been animal wellbeing and end-of-life care, and she brings a compassionate,
grounded presence to some of life’s most tender moments. She has a special focus on pet loss grief support, animal Reiki, and is a Certified Canine Massage Therapist.
A lifelong seeker of natural and holistic solutions, Karen has been sensitive to the effects of energy from an early age. Nearly 30 years ago, she received her first-degree Reiki certification, marking the first time she fully followed her intuition into a world that had been calling to her since childhood. Karen has since received the designation of Reiki Master Teacher Practitioner. Influenced by her aunt, a Reiki Master with a love for crystals.
Karen grew up immersed in alternative healing traditions, often joking that they were both the “black sheep” and the healers of the family.
Through years of working closely with animals and their people, Karen observed how deeply
animals absorb our emotional, energetic, and spiritual states, often reflecting them physically. It became obvious that there is a correlation between the health of pets and their people. This realization became the catalyst for bringing her two worlds together: supporting pets and the people who love them. Her approach honors the profound bond between humans and animals,
offering gentle, intentional care that supports healing on every level.
In a world that can feel full of noise, your only work is to raise your vibration and return to
stillness. As you do, healing naturally unfolds, for you, and for those around you.
This is how we heal together.

Driven to expand her skill set, Courtney went on to graduate with honors in Acupuncture from Georgian College in 2019. She’s committed to treating her patients holistically, with a focus on nervous system support, and emphasizes the vital connection between mental and physical health. Cancer changes everything. The treatments, the uncertainty, the fatigue that lingers long after the last appointment, can leave people wondering how to feel like themselves again. But cancer doesn’t get the final say.
Much of my work lives at the intersection of conventional cancer care and evidence-informed naturopathic medicine, two worlds that should collaborate more often than they do. I help patients bridge that gap in ways that are thoughtful, practical, and grounded in science.
I started clinical practice 14 years ago, and in that time I’ve seen a lot of medicine at its best… and some parts that clearly needed fixing. I’ve made it something of a professional hobby to examine those rough edges and push for better ways forward. Medicine evolves when people are willing to ask better questions.
Sometimes that means being a little early to the conversation. I’ve been prescribing menopause hormone therapy (MHT or HRT or BHRT) since 2016, back when it was still considered “uncool” in many circles. Thankfully, the evidence has caught up, and the conversation is changing. I am confident the same will be true with integrative oncology.
Teaching has also been a big part of my work. For more than a decade, I’ve trained student clinicians, many of whom have gone on to become exceptional naturopathic doctors. A few have even joined my clinic, which is one of the most satisfying full-circle moments a teacher can experience.
Locally, I’ve worked to pioneer the safe inclusion of evidence-based naturopathic therapies alongside conventional cancer treatment because patients deserve thoughtful integrative care, not an either-or choice.
I do a lot because, frankly, there is a lot that still needs doing.
My goal is to leave a meaningful footprint in healthcare here in Peterborough, one that makes it easier for patients to access collaborative, evidence-informed care.
