Cancer changes everything. The treatments, the uncertainty, the fatigue that lingers long after the last appointment, can leave people wondering how to feel like themselves again. But cancer doesn’t get the final say.

Much of my work lives at the intersection of conventional cancer care and evidence-informed naturopathic medicine, two worlds that should collaborate more often than they do. I help patients bridge that gap in ways that are thoughtful, practical, and grounded in science.

I started clinical practice 14 years ago, and in that time I’ve seen a lot of medicine at its best… and some parts that clearly needed fixing. I’ve made it something of a professional hobby to examine those rough edges and push for better ways forward. Medicine evolves when people are willing to ask better questions.

Sometimes that means being a little early to the conversation. I’ve been prescribing menopause hormone therapy (MHT or HRT or BHRT) since 2016, back when it was still considered “uncool” in many circles. Thankfully, the evidence has caught up, and the conversation is changing. I am confident the same will be true with integrative oncology.

Teaching has also been a big part of my work. For more than a decade, I’ve trained student clinicians, many of whom have gone on to become exceptional naturopathic doctors. A few have even joined my clinic, which is one of the most satisfying full-circle moments a teacher can experience.

Locally, I’ve worked to pioneer the safe inclusion of evidence-based naturopathic therapies alongside conventional cancer treatment because patients deserve thoughtful integrative care, not an either-or choice.

I do a lot because, frankly, there is a lot that still needs doing.

My goal is to leave a meaningful footprint in healthcare here in Peterborough, one that makes it easier for patients to access collaborative, evidence-informed care.
